From Our Founder
"I loved the ritual of my daily coffee, but I was tired of the anxiety and the crashes that came with it.
During a trip to the Dominican Republic, I tasted pure hot chocolate that stopped me in my tracks. Rich, comforting, and grounding in a way I had never experienced before. That cup made me feel completely present.
When I came back to Canada, I went looking for something similar. What I found instead were shelves full of hot chocolates loaded with processed sugar, fillers, and ingredients I couldn't pronounce. Some were made from common bulk cacao that was harsh and bitter. Others were so heavily processed that they barely tasted like chocolate at all.
Nothing felt right, so I built Ember Slown. A hot chocolate that is clean and made with ingredients you can actually trust. A small daily ritual to help you slow down, reset, and take care of yourself. I hope it does the same for you."

Why Ember Slown?
The name Ember Slown came from two simple ideas. An "Ember" is that tiny piece that keeps glowing quietly after a fire. Small, warm, and peaceful. And "Slown" is our own made up word for slowing down. Together they mean one thing: no matter how crazy life gets, there is always a little warmth waiting for you. You just have to give yourself permission to slow down.
Most hot chocolates hide behind long ingredient lists. Ours doesn't. Ember Slown is the belief that what you put in your body matters, and that intention is always the answer. We did the hard work so you don't have to — bringing you two exceptional ingredients: rare cacao prized for its rich, smooth flavor and pure maple sugar.
The Cacao That Makes the Difference.
Our cacao comes from Criollo and Trinitario beans, two of the world's rarest varieties, representing only a small fraction of global cacao production. While most hot chocolates are made from common Forastero beans, Criollo and Trinitario are prized for their naturally smooth, complex flavor that requires no heavy roasting or processing to taste exceptional.
Grown and harvested by hand on a small family farm in Cameroon, where traditional farming methods have been passed down for generations, our cacao is tended to with the kind of care you can actually taste.
Our cacao is also non-alkalized, meaning it is never treated with chemicals, preserving its full antioxidant content and keeping the flavor as pure and rich as nature intended.
